Privacy Policy & Legal Info

Who we are:

Our website address is:

https://____________________________

We can be reached at:

___________________________________

PLEASE, read this as you would a letter from a friend/ally; as, we ALL want to feel safe/secure while online.

So, first-off: even just visiting this and reviewing this Privacy Policy page, you can feel safe/secure to do so as this WordPress website and its data (of all types, outlined below) is secure — as promised to me, the SiteOwner, by website-hosting provider (which is a large, well-known, reputable company). Additionally, this WordPress Website is scanned, at regular intervals, automatically, for malware that would potentially threaten security — of your data AND mine.

Who am I? My name is _______________________ and I live in ________________. (This is not my real/full last name as not to make MYSELF or MY kids’ location potentially identifiable to Nefarious Actors/Criminals. Thanks for your understanding.)

Secondly, I, the SiteOwner, am a real person as well; so, I care about my Visitors’ privacy being protected. As I understand it, though, all US-based internet users generally, in 2020, should assume that all their activity is automatically being tracked by all websites, and that these extra privacy policies below are mainly for foreign users and GDPR-compliance. I, personally, have no interest in “how” you personally navigate my website; meaning, I will not manually be combining through your activities on this WordPress website, ever. (I don’t even know how, or why, I would do that. LOL). I only care that my visitors as a whole receive benefit from this WordPress website, and that your location-privacy is protected from Other Visitors/Nefarious Actors. Thus, again, I have taken the trouble to procure an SSL certificate for this WordPress website through my website-hosting provider.

You should know that an analytics plugin this WordPress site uses will likely use ACTIVITY data (not personally-identifiable data) to combine it into a representative whole, and THEN tell me the TOTAL visitors I have, how long they stayed on the site, or whether they bought something. Again, that’s all non-personally identifiable information. So it’s actually OUTSIDE the scope of this policy concerning your PERSONAL data…I just thought you should have the full-picture.

What personal data gets collected, and why:

Comments? None.

I completely disabled comments on this WordPress website to avoid collecting any Comment data about you, and prevent you from having the suffer through reading spam comments from people trying to sell junk. You’re welcome ; – )

IF YOU WISH TO COMMENT on a post, or notice a typo/error, or have any questions at all, just message me at the address above AND include a link of the post/page so we’re on the same page.

Media? Nope.

I, manually, completely disabled uploading images via comments to this WordPress website; so, no worries here.

If you, a Visitor, wish to upload images to this WordPress website, the WordPress system will, automatically, collect location data about your IP address; so, Visitors should avoid uploading images that includes embedded location data (EXIF GPS). The reasoning, apparently, is that Other Visitors/Nefarious Actors to this WordPress website could potentially download those and extract that location data from your images.

IF YOU DO WISH TO SHARE PHOTOS with me, just email them to me at the address above! (It’s much more personal that way anyway!)

Contact forms? Well, sort of.

If you, a Visitor, WISH to share something with this WordPress website via a Contact Form with me, then, yes this WordPress website collects that. (But again, I, personally, don’t care to know or know how to FIND personally-identifiable or location data…so, no real worries here either. I, personally, will not use that data.)

Cookies? Minimal.

If you, a Visitor, views our login page, this WordPress website automatically sets a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies; this particular cookie contains NO personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you, a Visitor, leave a comment on this WordPress website you may choose to opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in the form of “cookies.” These are for YOUR convenience, so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies are set to last for one year.

When you, a Visitor, chooses to log in, this WordPress website system, automatically will set up some cookies to save your login information and your screen-display choices, like font-size or language. These login cookies last for just 2 days, and screen-options cookies last for a year. If you choose “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies are automatically removed.

If you, a Contributor, wishes to edit or publish an article to this WordPress website, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes NO personal data and simply indicates the post ID of your article and expires after just 1 day.

Embedded-Content from other websites

Content you view on this WordPress website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves/collects in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Those websites may/may not be collecting data about you, use cookies, embed *additional* third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account AND are logged in to that website.

So, for example, if you are logged into Youtube while viewing a Youtube video I share in a blogpost, then it would be in your personal Youtube history of videos viewed.

**Any questions about your privacy regarding EMBEDDED content, you’ll have to direct those to that site’s owner. (Are you starting to see just how interconnected the entire “web” is, and why it’s just safe to assume ALL your activity data is being collected?)

Analytics

Any/all analytics performed on this WordPress website is simply AGGREGATED data; not personally-identifiable. Meaning, the 3rd party plugins used simply “combine” and generalize the data, automatically, into a representative whole. No individual eyes see the data. to tell me how many visitors I have, how long they stayed on the site, or whether they bought something; but, that’s all non-personally identifiable information. So it’s actually outside the scope of this disclosure/policy; I just thought you should have the full-picture:

Is your data shared with others?

Not that I am aware of; certainly none is shared manually. possibly, if I ever personally did a screen-share with, say, my hosting company or other IT-support professional they could potentially see your data; or, perhaps a screenshot but I would use a “blur” function to redact anything identifying.

Your personal, location nor contact information will NEVER be sold. I never plan on having annoying ads on this WordPress website, so no worries there.

Possibly at some future time that the Facebook pixel is ever installed, then, in theory, Facebook could know what you viewed on this WordPress website. I’ll cross that bridge when I get there; though, for that level of detail you the Visitor to this WordPress website would need to refer to Facebook’s Privacy Policy for their policies.

Length of time your data points are retained:

WordPress websites that accept commenting, and its associated metadata, are retained indefinitely. (WordPress tells us Sit Owners it’s so WordPress can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.) Again, I’ve disabled comments, so no worries here.

If you CHOOSE to register with this WordPress website (if any), we only store the personal information you are willing to provide in their user profile. You, a Visitor/Registrant CAN delete your information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information, or delete it if/when requested by the Visitor. Your rights are spelled out in the last 2 paragraphs of this policy, below.

(Cookie-data timing is included over in the Cookies section.)

Where we send your data:

WordPress websites that accept comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. But again, I completely disabled comments on this WordPress website, so no worries we’ll be sending it to anyone.

Your contact information

As stated above, if you, a Visitor, WISH to share something with this WordPress website via a Contact Form with me, then, yes this WordPress website collects that. But again, I, personally, will not use that data.

Additional information

How we protect your data

The “s” within HTTPS://AnyWebsiteYouVisit.com means that website is SECURE. This Worpress is secured on the website-hosting level, as is it also secured by a 3rd party plugin.

Additionally, this WordPress Website is automatically scanned, regularly, for malware that would potentially threaten security — yours AND mine!

What data breach procedures we have in place

Since security of soft-ware and mal-ware detection are provided AND monitored by 3rd parties, in the event that THEIR encryption is broken or their sites experience a breach, MY personally-identifiable information (Eeeeek!) would be vulnerable as well as any information that was collected above and not yet cleared from cookies. I include that so that you can better trust that I would be hounding them incessantly to correct/re-secure it. I would demand they explain their failure in language I can/you, laypeople, can understand, they seek to discover any further potential vulnerabilities and make things right(!) and/or any other restitution you/I might be due.

What I, personally, can do for you is to: inform you of the breach they inform me of and keep you posted, if you’ve provided an email to me, as to any restitution they provide me, and see if that can be passed on to you. Cyber-crime is real; but, like identity theft, it is incredibly hard (nearly impossible) to prosecute; so, I will warn you to not get your hopes up that Nefarious Actors would be brought to justice.

What third parties we receive data from

None.

At a future time we are likely to install the Facebook pixel/tracker, which effectively links/tell us whatever data you are willing to share with Facebook. If you’re okay with sharing that with Facebook we assume you’re okay with sharing that with us.

What automated decision-making and/or profiling we do with user data

None that I know of…except maybe placing our articles that receive the most traffic toward the top of the page, and creating more content like it since it’s helping the most people.

Industry regulatory disclosure requirements

None that I know of. This policy may be updated as more is understood to be required.

Rights you have over your data:

IF you, a Visitor, have an account on this site, or have left comments, uploaded media, published posts, bought etc:

you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us, simply by emailing us the email address above. After that, this video details the actions I’ll take to get you your data: https://youtu.be/Y_tiSljl0Vo?t=451 Timestamp 7:31-11:31. (This IS a time-sensitive process to send you your CURRENT data; so please click on the link that’s sent to you as soon as you get it. Thanks.)

You can also request that we erase any personal data we have about you, and we’re happy to do so as soon as we receive that request. I’ll use the same video tutorial above, starting at Timestamp 11:31. (Of course that process does not include removing any data WordPress deems legally-obligatory and needs keep for their administrative, legal, or security purposes; that’s all an Automated-decision process from WordPress itself, completely outside my manual control.)
